The Silk RoadThe Silk Road was named in 1877 by a famous German geographer because the main good traded was silk. Many routes on the Silk Road were made during the Han dynasty. Many famous ancient diplomats, monks, and generals crossed the Silk Road in order to finish their missions. These people include: Ban Chao, Ban Yong, Fu Jeizi, Marco Polo, Xuanzang, and Zhang Qian. While the Silk Road was in use caravans were very often attacked by Central Asian tribes.
